BlackBerry Torch 9810 Specs – Mid Range BlackBerry Smartphone With 7OS

The Blackberry Torch 9810 is a pretty recent release from RIM, the Canadian firm that puts out the iconic BlackBerry phones in the market. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 is equipped with a very snappy 1.2GHz processor, a slide out Qwerty keyboard, a good camera and the latest BlackBerry OS 7. Let us take a closer look at the various BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs.

The Good about the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
The screen, though a little small, is quite vibrant, colorful and sharp. The phone has a nice and sturdy slide out full Qwerty keyboard. The 1.2Ghz single core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm is pretty good. The 5MP camera is capable of recording video in 720 P HD mode. General performance of the phone is excellent. You can access up to 10 email accounts that can be set up very conveniently.
The Bad about the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
If you already have a current generation BlackBerry phone, you will be a little disappointed with what this phone has to offer as there is nothing sensationally new, other than the 720P HD video capture capability. It is a bit of a revamp of existing products. Also, for some odd reason, there is a big price difference for this phone when it is purchased from AT&T and when it is purchased from T-Mobile. With AT&T, the phone is much more reasonably priced at $50, when we wrote out this post.
Summary of the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
If you are a first time BlackBerry buyer, you will like this phone. If you already have a Blackberry phone that was released in the past year or so, there won’t be much to excite you here.
Design – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
Blackberry phones have always been smart sized phones. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs, when it comes to physical dimensions, are as follows. The phone is 4.4 inches in length and about 2.4 inches wide. The thickness is pretty considerable at 0.6 inches. But, you must remember that it packs a slide out Qwerty keyboard which will obviously add to the thickness. The phone has an attractive dark and silvery gray color to it. RIM seems to have got the back of this phone wrong though. There is some plastic there that makes this Blackberry phone look a little cheap. Cheap is not something you will ever associate with a Blackberry phone but it has happened here.
The usable screen size of the BlackBerry Torch 9810 is 3.2 inches. All the recent Blackberry phone displays are aided by the all new Liquid Graphics Technology that is proprietary to RIM. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs say that the screen puts out a 640X480 resolution. It looks pretty sharp.
The design of this phone is a little odd in the sense that this phone has a touch screen, a touch pad and a Qwerty keyboard. We can’t possibly imagine someone using all three of these inputs on a consistent basis. Honestly, it would have been enough if they had stuck to the touch screen and the Qwerty keyboard. But, the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs include a touch pad and you can use it if you will. It is pretty responsive.
As for the general buttons and connections on the phone, you will find the volume rocker keys, a headphone jack and a button that can be customized by you. Blackberry phones are always a little efficient like that, giving business users a little flexibility in deciding what one button will do on the phone.

Email set up – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
The BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs include very easy email access. Blackberry phones are known for their ability to sync with email accounts in a quick amount of time. Whether you have corporate email or whether you use free email services like Gmail or Hotmail, you will be able to be set them up and have them running in just a few minutes time. You can access up to 10 Email accounts on this Blackberry phone. If you need a phone that needs to access more email accounts, you better carry a computer in your hands.
Camera – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
The BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs include a very good 5MP camera. The camera quality is good and a lot of thought has also gone into the various modes that can be used for the camera. For example, there is a mode with which the camera can be used to capture a picture of text. We won’t recommend it as a corporate espionage tool although we would say that it will come in handy if you want to take a quick picture of a piece of paper with text on it, when you don’t have a photocopy machine lying around.
In bright sunlight, the picture quality is excellent. The picture quality gets knocked down to “Very Good” when the phone is used in indoor conditions or conditions with low light.
The BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs include HD video capture at 720P. The video quality is very good. If you experience some problems with quality, just play around with the settings a little bit to find a mode that will produce better quality. For example, you can try turning off the auto focus during the video shooting. Though it sounds contradictory, it can actually improve video capture quality in some cases.

Call quality – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
We expected the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs to be good in the call quality department as the BlackBerry Torch 9810 is a business phone. We were not disappointed. Apart from a few scratch like noises here and there, call quality is very good. The phone also performs very efficiently when it is used in speakerphone mode.
Data transfer speeds – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
The BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs include support for HSPA+ speeds. Depending on whose opinion you take, HSPA+ speeds are supposed to be considered as 4G speeds. HSPA+ speeds are not as fast as 4G LTE speeds but you will be able to get download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps. Download speeds can ultimately vary, depending on your choice of network provider and signal strength in your ara. But, you can expect the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs to give you download speeds that are well in excess of average 3G speeds.
Battery life – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
Continuous talk time is about 6 hours on this phone. We thought that it was a pretty efficient talk time for a compact sized smartphone with powerful capabilities and HSPA+ support. On standby mode, the phone’s battery will last for up to 12 days.
Conclusion – BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs
We like some aspects of the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs very much. The 720P HD video capture is a nice addition and the 5MP camera is very good. The 1.2 GHz single core processor is more than good enough for the average business user. But, the problem with this phone is that there are too many other Blackberry models that are similarly priced, with slightly differing features. We are not saying that the BlackBerry Torch 9810 specs are not good. We are just saying that you should take a look at other Blackberry phones before you settle on this one. Look at our related posts to see the specs of other popular Blackberry phones that we have looked at in the recent past.
Do you like BlackBerry phones better than the iPhone? Would you give the iPhone 5 a chance when it comes out?
