The Good about the HTC Evo 4G Design specs
Like most other HTC phones, the HTC Evo is a very sophisticated looking smartphone that has great build quality. As mentioned earlier, it has well rounded specs such as dual cameras and the Gingerbread OS (that will be upgradable to the Ice Cream Sandwich). The phone comes installed with HTC Sense, a custom user interface that spices up the rather boring look of Android Gingerbread.
The Bad about the HTC Evo 4G Design specs
We really didn’t have a major complaint against this phone. Some of the complaints we had are just complaints about some mildly annoying quirks such as a difficult to remove back cover and the lack of a physical camera shutter key. But, as long as you don’t remove the cover many times in a day or take like a 100 pictures, these problems won’t really bother you.
Summary of the HTC Evo 4G Design specs
If you are looking for a reasonably priced phone that can run on the WiMax 4G network, this is definitely one of the top contenders. The phone has a nice 5MP camera, great user interface, snappy processor and a very good build quality. When you look at the other products that are retailing in the same price range as the HTC Evo 4G, you will easily be able to choose this model ahead of the others as it has more to offer in almost every possible department. Please read through the entire description of HTC Evo 4G specs below.
Design – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
This is a fairly large sized phone. It has the following physical dimensions. The height of the phone is 4.8 inches and the width of the phone is 2.4 inches. Thickness is fairly slim at .47 inches. The phone has an interesting design. The front of the phone looks very classy, with its brushed metal finish that looks and feels quite luxurious. The back of the phone has a large metal band that is surrounded by a soft plastic material at the top and the bottom. Both the metal band and the plastic materials in the back are of black color and they look quite stylish. Though we don’t know what inspired HTC to make the back look like a three piece design, we have to say that they pulled off the look.
The HTC Evo 4G Design has a very classy appearance and a price tag less than $100
The usable screen size on this phone is 4 inches. The screen is of very high quality, putting out a 960X540 pixel resolution. The display is a WVGA display.
All in all, the phone is a winner in the look and build department. When you factor in the price, it is easily one of the best looking 4G phones that you can buy today, at the price point that this phone is retailing at.
HTC Sense – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
HTC Evo 4G Design specs include HTC Sense 3.0, a custom user interface that was designed by HTC. The custom user interface is refreshingly different from the cluttered Android OS. For example, with Sense 3.0, you have the ability to give your seven home screens a little spin as if you were spinning a carousel. Sense will also give you several customization options that will allow you to modify the appearance of your home screens, widgets and shortcuts bar. It even gives you easy to access shortcuts with which you can reach the settings bar and notifications bar.
Most people who try the Evo 4G are those who immediately take a liking to HTC Sense. Unless you are a hardcore Android UI lover, we don’t think you will have anything to complain about with this phone’s custom user interface.
Memory – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
HTC Evo 4G Design specs include a 8GB pre-installed SD card. The phone has 768MB RAM and 4GB of ROM. You can swap out the pre-installed 8GB SD card and put in up to a 32GB SD card.
Camera – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
HTC Evo 4G Design specs include a 5MP camera in the back and a good 1.3MP camera in the front. The primary camera is aided by a LED flash. HTC Sense has a small part to play in the camera application. For example, you will see some nice touches that will allow you to enable a wide angle mode and also make changes to certain settings such as white balance and color balance.
The 5MP camera takes pretty good pictures. Outdoor pictures are a lot better than indoor pictures. This is however not really a complaint as about 90% of all cell phone cameras fall under the same category.
The 5MP Camera of the HTC Evo 4G Design takes some good pictures
The 5MP camera is capable of 720P HD video recording. The video recording was pretty much flawless. If we had to complain about something, we would say that the default volume setting on the video playback is a little low. We would have liked for the default level to be a little higher. But, a few taps on the volume rocker button should solve that problem for you.
Call quality – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
The call quality is quite good although there are a few complaints in this department. When you hit your high notes during your conversation, the other person is going to hear some distortion in your voice. It will sound like a momentary crackle that comes and goes each time you hit the peak volumes in your speech. It is not something that will make you repeat yourself although the disturbance is significant enough for you to take notice. Call volume is also a little faint and you will definitely have to turn up the volume a little, if not all the way, if you want a comfortably audible conversation.
Speakerphone quality is quite loud in contrast. But, there is a slight echo that affects the speakerphone call quality. The speakerphone call quality is good enough to make a few calls here and there, when you want to have your hands free. But, if you are the type that likes to have long conversations on speakerphone, this phone might not be right for you, unless you are going to be in a very quiet environment with good signal strength at the time of the call.
Data transfer – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
HTC Evo 4G Design specs include 4G (WiMax) support. Though download and upload speeds will vary depending on the quality of the WiMax connetion, we would say that you can get up to 7Mbps, both up and down, with this phone. Though WiMax is not as quick as HSPA+ networks and 4G LTE networks, this phone will definitely give you a pretty good edge over 3G network speeds.
Processor and performance – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
HTC Evo 4G specs do not include a dual core processor. But, the single core, 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor does a great job in handling this phone. App loading and general navigation around the phone is very breezy and you might never be able to tell that it is a single core processor that is working on the inside.
Battery life – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
HTC Evo 4G Design specs include a 1,520 mAh battery that will provide a maximum of 6 hours of continuous talk time. Battery life is nothing to ride home about although it is not bad either. Moderate users will need to charge this phone everyday.
Conclusion – HTC Evo 4G Design specs
This phone is a slightly scaled down version of the HTC Evo 4G, another very popular phone from the HTC ranks. But, HTC have also slashed the prices accordingly and this is a phone that was specifically made to target the smartphone user who wants a smartphone for less than $100 (contract price). So, if you can’t quite afford or do not wish to pay the price for a full fledged HTC Evo 4G, the HTC Evo 4G Design will definitely make for a great alternative.
