With Steve Jobs passing away, the release
of the iPad 3 has been invariably postponed to 2012. While we can’t
really give you any direction on when the iPad 3 might come out, we can
definitely try to give you an insight into the iPad 3 specs that might
be seen when the new iPad comes out. So, without much more of a fuss,
let us get into iPad 3 specs that are expected.
iPad 3 Specs coming our way!
Display – iPad 3 specs
There have been several rumors that seem to suggest that the most significant improvements to the iPad 3, when compared to the iPad 2, will be in the display area. The iPad 3 specs, when it comes to display, could feature any one of the following improvements.
Many Apple fans are expecting to see a retina display in the iPad 3.
Some rumors in April of 2011 seemed to suggest that Apple specifically wanted its screen manufacturers to make better quality screens that will be able to support HD quality.
Some other crazy rumors also seemed to suggest that Apple could be talking to Samsung, about being supplied with AMOLED screens for the iPad 3. Really, Apple getting screens from Samsung? Hey, stranger things have happened in business. That is all we can say.
The most recent rumor about iPad 3 specs, in conjunction with the display on the iPad 3 is that the iOS5 operating system has specific code that will support retina display. We can only assume that Apple made that modification to iOS5 because the iPad 3 will have a retina display.
Data transfer with NFC Technology – iPad 3 Specs
NFC Technology or Near Field Communications could dramatically change the way data is transferred and the speed at which it is transferred. For example, NFC technology in the iPad 3 could allow iPad users to transfer large files from their Mac’s to the iPad or from the iPhone, within just a few seconds, without ever touching a cable.
NFC technology is widely anticipated in the iPhone 5 and it is not clear which device will get it first, the iPhone 5 or the iPad 3. I guess we can only wait and see.
Increased storage – iPad 3 specs
Currently, the iPad 2 offers 16/32 and 64GB storage options. With Android tablets costing much less than the iPad 2, we hope that Apple will bump up the storage on the iPad 3, giving customers a chance at buying one with 128 GB storage, without hiking up the price a bit too much. The declining cost of flash memory might just make this possible although we cannot really guarantee it.
The inclusion of a thunderbolt port – iPad 3 Specs
For some reason, Apple has just refused to include an ordinary USB port in the two generations of iPads that have come out. Why? Well, we don’t know. Maybe it is because Apple thinks that their devices are just too cool to accommodate a USB port. But, we do know that Apple has begun to include thunderbolt ports in the MacBook Pro’s and MacBook Air notebooks. To give credit to Apple, these ports are definitely much faster than conventional USB ports, which is why Apple only wants to include them and give users the best iPad 3 specs possible. But, we still think it won’t hurt Apple to provide a USB port, even if it means that they stick it somewhere in the back, where it is hard to reach, or see, if that it is their issue.
SD Card slot – iPad 3 specs
This is another weird business decision by Apple; not allowing the
first two generations of the iPad’s to have SD slots. Please don’t ask
us why as we don’t know. But, there was a lot of hype that an SD card
slot was going to be introduced in the iPad 2. Then, the iPad 2 came out
and we all know what happened there.
We hope the iPad 3 will come with a SD card reader as most cameras these days come with removable SD cards that can quickly be removed and loaded up on the tablets and notebook computers. The alternative is connecting a USB cable. Since Apple doesn’t want to provide the iPad 3 with a USB slot either, we hope that they will show us some mercy here.
Carbon fiber casing – iPad 3 specs
Again, this is just speculation but the iPad 3 could be doing away with the classy aluminum casing. Why? Because carbon cases are lighter. Also, carbon cases are more resistant to falls and bumps. This is however a definite tentative in the list of iPad 3 specs items because Apple always wants to set itself apart from the competition when it comes to build quality. Whether they will stick to the their solid aluminum casomg or go with a carbon fiber casing is something that we will have to wait out and see.
So, there you have it. The list of probable changes that will come out as iPad 3 specs, when the iPad 3 does come out. Were you expecting something more from the iPad 3? If yes, please do let us know with your comments below. We would love to hear from you. Also, are you excited about the release of the iPhone 5. Apple has not allowed iPad 1 and iPad 2 users to experience the benefit of an SD Card slot. Will the Ipad 3 change that?
We hope the iPad 3 will come with a SD card reader as most cameras these days come with removable SD cards that can quickly be removed and loaded up on the tablets and notebook computers.
