Dell Venue Pro Specs – Windows Phone From Dell With A Qwerty Keyboard

The Dell Venue Pro is a Windows phone with a Qwerty keyboard. What is different about this phone is that the Qwerty keyboard is in portrait mode. The phone has been designed in that fashion as the Dell Venue Pro runs the Windows mobile operating system that has a lot of functionality that is only available in portrait mode. Below, we will take a closer look at the other Dell Venue Pro specs.

The Good about the Dell Venue Pro specs
If you wanted a Windows smartphone with a Qwerty keyboard, the Dell Venue Pro will be a great choice, if not your only choice. It comes with a vibrant display and a pretty snappy 1GHz single core processor.
The Bad about the Dell Venue Pro specs
This is a rather bulky phone, especially when the Qwerty keyboard is extended. It is quite thick as well. If you want a slim and sophisticated looking smartphone, this phone will not quite cut it for you. Another drawback is that the phone does not have any 4G/HSPA+ support. We thought that the phone’s 5MP camera was also slightly disappointing.
Summary of the Dell Venue Pro specs
Dell is not a very popular cell phone manufacturer. This particular model will be a good device for you if you want a Windows smartphone with a Qwerty keyboard. If you are not particular about a Qwerty keyboard, we would suggest that you go with one of HTC’s or Samsung’s Windows devices as they have a lot more to offer than the Dell Venue Pro.
Design – Dell Venue Pro specs
The Dell Venue Pro specs, when it comes to design, suggest that it is quite a bulky phone. The phone has a height of 4.8 inches and a width of 2.5 inches. Thickness is a good .6 inches. The phone is a heavyweight, weighing in at 6.8 ounces. The build quality is excellent though. The back of the phone has a nice textured feel to it and there are some nice chrome accents here and there, to give the phone a very sleek and modern look.
The Dell Venue Pro specs include a 4.1 inch screen. There are not many Windows phones that have large screens. So, the Dell Venue Pro specs could be appealing in that regard. The 4.1 AMOLED screen puts out a pixel resolution of 480X800(WVGA). When you look at the phone from the side, you will see a slight curve in the gorilla glass. This gives the phone a nice twist in terms of cosmetic appeal. It is definitely a gorgeous looking phone.
The Dell Venue Pro, A Windows smartphone with a slide out Qwerty keyboard
The slide out keyboard is solidly built. The keys are firm enough to give the user a physical feel of the keys. The on screen Windows keyboard is also pretty good. If you are a light user, you might not even find yourself sliding out the physical Qwerty keyboard as the on screen keyboard does a pretty good job.
The Dell Venue Pro specs include a Micro-USB port and a headphone jack, along with the usual volume rocker keys and the camera shutter key.
Camera – Dell Venue Pro specs
The Dell Venue Pro specs include a 5MP camera that is equipped with auto focus and a LED flash. One can play around with the settings of the camera to adjust ISO settings, white balance and a few other important camera settings. The camera is capable of recording video in 720P HD format. The picture quality was pretty average. The camera is however a lot better when used outdoors than when used indoors. A weird problem with the camera of the Dell Venue Pro is that you have to be very still when you use this camera. While we have used so many other cell phone cameras, we have never found one that is as unforgiving as the camera in the Dell Venue Pro. Even the slightest of shakes will result in a blurry picture.
The 5MP camera on the Dell Venue Pro puts out decent pictures, although nothing special. The camera is also very susceptible to slight shakes
Call quality – Dell Venue Pro specs
Call quality is pretty decent. People on both ends of the conversation will report very good results when the Dell Venue Pro is used. There is just a little bit of static that is transmitted when a call is taking place. But, almost all phones will have some minor flaw when it comes to call quality. What is a little dispappointing is the quality of the speakerphone. The speakerphone volume is a bit low and we just hate it when that happens. The whole point of a speakerphone is to be able to use a phone without keeping it close to your year. But, with the Dell Venue Pro, it would be difficult for you to hear the other person if you are holding the phone around waist level. The speakerphone is almost unusable in a noisy environment.
Data transfer speeds – Dell Venue Pro specs
The Dell Venue Pro specs does not have 4G LTE compatibility or 4G HSPA+ support. But, it does support 3G speeds. We would say that the data transfer speeds were about average with other phones that operate on the 3G network. Media like YouTube videos will play without interruption although it does take a few seconds to buffer in the beginning.
Processor and performance – Dell Venue Pro specs
The Dell Venue Pro specs include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor that is provided by Qualcomm. Launching of apps and general navigation through the phone’s menus is pretty snappy. One shouldn’t have a problem with speed on this phone.
Battery life – Dell Venue Pro specs
You will be able to get about 5.5 hours of continuous talk time on this phone, even though Dell says that the phone can offer up to 7 hours of continuous talk time. On standby mode, the phone can last for a period of about two weeks.
Conclusion – Dell Venue Pro specs
Apart from its design characteristics, there isn’t much in the Dell Venue Pro to really set it apart from the rest of the Windows phones that are out there. The camera is a bit dodgy and the phone is also quite heavy. It does look great although we doubt that people would be buying a smartphone just for its looks. The portrait Qwerty keyboard might also be a point of interest for those who are specifically interested in a Windows phone with a physical keyboard.
