HTC Rhyme Specs – Feminine Phone With Many Accessories

The HTC Rhyme is a very unique phone in the sense that it seems to be made for the female audience. Though HTC have not explicitly stated that the phone is aimed at women, you will get an idea of why we think it is a phone for women, after you read through the passage on the HTC Rhyme specs, below. Please also note that the HTC Rhyme was originally known as the Bliss although HTC decided to change it to Rhyme for some reason.

The Good about the HTC Rhyme specs
This phone is a welcome change from the arsenal of black and dull looking smartphones that are available in the market today. To start off, it comes in a vivid purple color. (Hint number 1 that this is a phone for women). Secondly, it comes with some interesting accessories that again mostly cater to the female crowd. We will get into the accessories at a later point. The phone has pretty decent smartphone specs and runs the Android Gingerbread OS that gives it a pretty good smartphone status.
The Bad about the HTC Rhyme specs
Depending on your personality, some of the charms might not be too appealing for you. In fact, it could even seem silly for some. The only other real complaint about this phone is that the camera quality and performance was quite average in indoor conditions.
Summary of the HTC Rhyme specs
We would suggest that you read through the entire HTC Rhyme specs to see if this phone will be right for you. Most importantly, go through the descriptions on the design and accessories to make sure that this phone offers something that will match your tastes.
Design – HTC Rhyme specs
The phone is made out of high quality aluminum. When you hold the phone, it is going to feel luxurious. Though it uses aluminum, the weight is very manageable at just 4.77 ounces. The entire phone is made out of one block of aluminum that has a dark purple color (Royal Purple) to it. The phone is 4.69 inches tall, 2.39 inches wide and just .43 inches thick. Apparently, HTC is going to offer more color variations on this phone to the audience in International markets although people in the U.S. only have the option to buy a purple one.

The phone has a usable display screen size of 3.7 inches. The WVGA screen puts out a 480X800 screen resolution that is as good as some of the best screen resolutions that are out there. In fact, it is one of the few displays that can even come close to challenging the retina display on the iPhone.
HTC Sense User Interface – HTC Rhyme specs
Though the HTC Rhyme runs on Android, it also has HTC Sense running in the foreground. HTC Sense adds some nice touches that you might find useful. For example, it will give you the option to directly access certain applications or shortcuts from the locked screen, without opening up the menu screen. Other little features offered by the HTC Sense are the ability to remove home screens that are not necessary. The widgets can also be customized for a better user experience. You don’t have to worry about the HTC Sense diluting the Android experience as it just cleans up some of the clutter that can be associated with Android’s Gingerbread UI. The functionality of Android is left untouched.
Accessories – HTC Rhyme specs
The HTC Rhyme specs get a little interesting in the accessories department. Let’s start with the cell phone charm (Hint number 2 that the phone is for women). The cell phone charm is a cord that will need to be plugged into the phone’s headphone jack. The other end of the charm is a dice like purple thing that lights up like a notification light. We think that the charm was made in such a way that the phone can be kept securely inside a purse, with just the charm sticking out with the help of a small clip. The charm will light up for notifications like calls, allowing you to then dig out the phone from your purse.
The HTC Rhyme comes with a cell phone charm that lights up in purple color, when the phone gets an incoming call
This is a concept that might be liked by some while some will just laugh at it as a silly innovation. Either way, you get this for free when you buy the HTC Rhyme.Well, it is free although the cost may have been included in the sticker price before it even came to the store.
The other interesting accessory is the phone dock. When you place the phone into the dock, the phone automatically enables a dock mode that will neatly show weather updates and your clock. The dock screen will also give you the option to run a slide show of your pictures, making your docked phone look like a photo album. The dock also has some pretty good speakers that will allow you to listen to some quality music. Of course, the dock will charge your phone as well.
This cell phone dock, with external speakers, will charge your phone and make your phone go into dock mode, displaying shortcuts to music and pictures while also showing current weather conditions and the time.
The last set of accessories that we are going to talk about is the headphones. The headphones are purple as well and are made out of rubber that does not tangle. All in all, it looks like HTC designed the HTC Rhyme for the active woman, who is always on the go.
Camera – HTC Rhyme specs
HTC Rhyme specs include a 5MP camera that comes with a LED flash. The camera will allow you to make a lot of changes to the settings, thereby enabling you to get the most of the 5MP camera. In our tests, the camera did very well in outdoor conditions although the quality left something to be desired in low light conditions.
The camera is capable of recording 720P HD video and the video quality is pretty good. The camera software also includes a lightweight video editor that will allow you to trim your video quite easily. It is a fairly lightweight tool but a useful one.
Call quality – HTC Rhyme specs
The call quality on this phone is pretty good. There is just a little bit of distortion at high volume although it is not very noticeable or annoying. Voices sounded very natural and there was also very little background noise and white noise. Speakerphone quality is also on par with handset call quality. There is a little bit of an echo effect although it will not really stop you from having even a fairly drawn out conversation.
Data transfer speeds – HTC Rhyme specs
HTC Rhyme specs do not include 4G support. But, the phone will do a very good job of giving you average 3G speeds that are available in your area.
Processor and performance – HTC Rhyme specs
HTC Rhyme specs include a 1GHz Qualcomm processor (single core). The processor is more than equipped to handle the Gingerbread OS and general navigation around the phone’s menu is pretty speedy. The phone slows up just a little bit when you do a whole lot of things at one stretch although the slow down isn’t too significant. There is definitely just a little bit of camera lag though.
Battery life – HTC Rhyme specs
HTC Rhyme specs include a 1,600 mAh battery that puts out over 7 hours of continuous talk time. On standby mode, the phone can last for almost 18 days. Both times are pretty impressive for a phone with all the capabilities mentioned above.
Conclusion – HTC Rhyme specs
If the phone’s purple color, quirky accessories and good smartphone capabilities appeal to you, there is no reason why you should stay away from this nice HTC phone. It might also help if you are a woman as we fail to see how many men will actually want to buy a purple phone, however royal the purple might look.
