The Good about the Samsung Droid Charge specs
This phone has a great display that is only inferior to the iPhone’s retina display screen and a few other select screens in the market today. The fact that the resolution is very high on the 4.3 inches screen means that the phone will always be a treat to look at. 4G LTE speeds are pretty amazing and the phone has a number of other good factors such as a good camera and very good call quality.
The Bad about the Samsung Droid Charge specs
Honestly, we were a little surprised to see a 4G LTE phone without a dual core processor. Though the single core processor is quite snappy, we would have liked to see Samsung give the consumer a dual core processor, especially because the price of the Droid Charge is rather steep.
Summary of the Samsung Droid Charge specs
When you factor in the price tag, this phone loses a bit of appeal. It might have been a great deal if it cost a $100 less. But, Samsung is charging a premium because they know that this phone can offer battery life that is not matched by other 4G LTE phones in the market. But, if battery life is not really that important for you, read through the Samsung Droid Charge specs below, in more detail, to see if this phone will be the right choice for you.
Design – Samsung Droid Charge specs
The phone is definitely not the best looking smartphone in the market. In fact, we thought that the rounded off edges give the phone a rather uncomplicated and unrefined look. The design is also a little odd in the sense that the top of the phone is a little wider than the bottom of the phone. But, there might be some people who actually like the design.
Here are the Samsung Droid Charge specs in terms of physical dimensions. The phone is 5.11 inches long and about 2.66 inches wide. The thickness is .46 inches. The weight is pretty manageable for such a large phone, with the phone weighing just over 5 ounces. The reduced weight is due to the amount of plastic that has been used in the construction. The plastic however is of pretty high quality and you won’t feel like you are holding a cheap phone, a problem that has plagued some of Samsung’s other models.
The design of the Samsung Droid Charge 4G LTE phone might not be to everyone's liking
The screen on this phone is the highlight of all the Samsung Droid Charge specs. The usable screen size is 4.3 inches. The Super AMOLED display puts out a 480X800 resolution that packs in 217 pixels per square inch. While the PPI (pixels per inch) is nowhere close to the iPhone’s 336 PPI, it still is a pretty brilliant looking screen to look at. The phone’s display also does not get washed out in bright sunlight, unlike some other smartphone displays. The phone has dual cameras, with the primary camera being a 8MP camera. More about the camera below.
Camera – Samsung Droid Charge specs
Samsung Droid Charge specs include a 8MP camera in the back and a 1.3 MP camera in the front, to enable video calls. The primary camera is a winner in our opinion. Indoor pictures, even without flash, looked pretty good. The LED flash did a very good job of enhancing picture quality in low light conditions. As for video quality, the 8MP camera is equipped to handle 720P HD recording. Videos can be shared with devices like TV’s, through a HDMI port or through DLNA (wireless). For DLNA transfer, the TV or other viewing device will also need to have DLNA compatibility.
The 8MP Droid Charge Camera can take excellent indoor and outdoor photos. The camera is a great performer in low light conditions as well
Call quality – Samsung Droid Charge specs
Call quality is very clear and sharp. There is minimal background noise or white noise that will interrupt your calls. Occasionally, there is just a little bit of garbling here and there although it is very minimal. The call quality on this phone will not be a conversation stopper and you can have pleasant conversations without repeating yourself or without asking the person on the other end to repeat themselves.
As for speakerphone quality, the quality was again very good. There was very little echo and voices sounded nice and natural. The volume levels in speakerphone mode were very healthy.
In general, the call quality of the Droid Charge is excellent.
Data transfer speeds – Samsung Droid Charge specs
As you can see from the picture below, the Samsung Droid Charge specs impress in download and upload speeds. If you are used to a 3G connection, your browsing/downloading and uploading experience is going to get a super boost on a 4G LTE network.
Both download and upload speeds on the Droid Charge 4G LTE phone are excellent
Storage space – Samsung Droid Charge Specs
The phone has a measly 512MB RAM of internal storage that is thankfully expandable to 32GB, by means of an SD card.
Mobile hotspot – Samsung Droid Charge specs
The Droid Charge can be used as a mobile hotspot. But, when you do that, just keep an eye out on battery consumption. It can really drain the battery quite quickly. Download and upload speeds are very respectable when the Droid Charge is used as a mobile hotspot. While you won’t get the same reproduction of original 4G LTE speeds, the download and upload speeds will definitely be a whole lot better than 3G speeds.
Processor and performance – Samsung Droid Charge specs
The Samsung Droid Charge specs are a little disappointing in this department. There is no dual core processor, as mentioned earlier. The phone is equipped with a single core 1GHz Cortex A-8 processor. Most smartphones these days, especially the 4G LTE ones, have very snappy dual core processors.
Thankfully, the difference in performance level between a single core processor and dual core processor is quite negligible, unless you are extremely picky about even the slightest of delays that are involved with the loading of an app. If you have used a dual core phone in the past and then come to the Droid Charge, you might find it a little bit annoying here and there although it is definitely not a deal breaker.
Battery life – Samsung Droid Charge specs
Samsung Droid Charge specs are very impressive in the battery department. The 1,600 mAh battery can provide 6 hours of continuous talk time on a 4G LTE network. While this might not sound like much, the fact of the matter is that other 4G LTE phones actually fare a lot worse. Normal usage that includes browsing, a few calls and listening to music will cause the phone to die about just before the day is out. But, if you do not have a problem with charging your phone every night, this phone will be more than enough for your needs, in terms of battery life.
Conclusion – Samsung Droid Charge specs
The Samsung Droid Charge specs are a sort of a mixed bag. The phone has a great 8MP camera, above average battery life, great 4G LTE speeds, Android Froyo and a brilliant looking Super AMOLED screen. The drawbacks are its high price tag, single core processor and 512 MB internal storage. The design will also not give you any goosebumps. The decision will ultimately come down to how you look at the phone and will also depend on what you want to get out of this phone.
