LG Nitro HD Specs – Android Phone With Full HD Display

The LG Nitro HD is a 4G LTE enabled phone that has just recently hit store shelves. LG has never really been a player that has introduced mobile phones with super specs although they have definitely made a very good attempt here. Let us now take a closer look at the LG Nitro HD specs.

The Good about the LG Nitro HD specs
The most obvious attraction of this phone is the full HD display that looks absolutely gorgeous. The large 4.5 inch screen really makes the full HD display pop on the phone. This phone will be able to support download speeds of up to 32Mbps, as long as you have a fully functional 4G LTE network in your area. The phone also runs Gingerbread Android OS that can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich, when Android makes upgrades available. The dual core processors keep the performance of this phone very snappy.
The other good thing about LG Nitro HD specs is that the 8MP camera is pretty good with both pictures and videos.
The Bad about the LG Nitro HD specs
Battery life is not very impressive. While this is a problem with many 4G LTE phones, people who buy this phone will have to be warned that they cannot always go through an entire day without charging their phone, if they plan to make use of a 4G LTE network.
Summary of the LG Nitro HD specs
The price point of this phone is pretty good. If you want 4G LTE support and a great looking display, this phone is definitely one of the top contenders, even though it just made its entry into the market. Read on to learn more about the LG Nitro HD specs.
Design – LG Nitro HD specs
Though the phone has an amazing looking display, you can tell that the general design of the phone is a little bit old school. It has a rather boring rectangular shape without any sleek contours or shiny metal accents. The phone is primarily made out of sturdy plastic. This is one of the bigger phones in the market today. Its height comes in at a very tall 5.27 inches and the width is at 2.67 inches. Thickness is pretty slim at just .41 inches. When the phone’s screen is off, people won’t take second notice of this phone. But, when you turn on the display, it is a completely different story.
Though the LG Nitro HD looks like a fairly ordinary device, it packs a lot of powerful specs, the most important one being the full HD screen that looks really brilliant
The usable display size on this phone is 4.5 inches. The full HD resolution is capable of packing in an amazing 329 pixels per square inch, just 7 pixels per inch short of the iPhone’s retina display screen. If you thought that was impressive, there are more goodies that we have to talk about when it comes to the full HD screen. LG have also said that this is one of the brightest screens in the market today, capable of putting out 500 units of luminance. The high luminance level along with the 1280X720 pixel resolution means that HD video and HD pictures looks simply awesome on this screen.
In short, most of the hype about this phone had to do with the brilliant screen and LG have not disappointed here.

Ability to understand motion gestures – LG Nitro HD specs
LG Nitro HD specs include a wide array of gesture based inputs. We can’t go over all the gestures that can be used to control the phone although we will explain a few. For starters, you can simply hold the phone upside down if you want to mute an incoming call. You can also tilt the phone upside down to shut off alarms. This might actually come in handy after a rough night when you can’t see the screen just after you wake up. (Even HD screens are not visible to the hungover eye).
Another very interesting gesture based control is where you have the ability to tap on the right or left side of the screen, to make the cursor move accordingly. This will come in very handy if you type out messages very quickly, making a lot of little corrections in the process.
Camera – LG Nitro HD specs
LG Nitro HD specs include a front facing camera and a rear facing primary camera. The camera in the front is a 1.3MP camera that can be used for pretty decent video calls. The 8MP camera in the back takes great pictures. The phone’s performance is a little diminished in indoor conditions. Though the phone has a LED flash, outdoor shots looked much better than indoor shots. But, this problem plagues almost 95% of all the cell phone cameras. The indoor pictures are not bad in any way although they could definitely be better, especially in low light conditions.
One annoying problem with the LG Nitro HD specs has to do with shutter lag. Though the phone has a dual core processor and otherwise great specs, shutter lag can sometimes make the phone’s camera move like molasses. If you are a shutter bug who takes a lot of snaps, the camera’s shutter lag will definitely bother you.
The phone can record HD video at 1080P. The video quality and playback is excellent.

Storage space – LG Nitro HD specs
The phone comes with 4GB of inbuilt memory which is quite a lot when you compare the offerings in some other phones. Even more surprisingly, the phone comes with 16GB of additional storage in the form of a pre-installed SD card. You of course have the option to swap out the 16GB SD card for a 32GB SD card. It looks like LG has understood that potential buyers might be using the HD screen heavily, watching movies or downloaded content. That is why they have given the phone a maximum capacity of 36GB.
Call quality – LG Nitro HD specs
Call quality is above average on this phone. There is just a little bit of white noise here and there. However, the white noise is not significant enough to be annoying or intrude on the quality of your conversation. Some people might have to set the phone’s volume at a peak level by default, as the default volume level is a bit on the lower side.
Speakerphone quality is pretty good, as long as you are going to use the speakerphone in a quiet location, without too much background noise. When there is background noise, the voices get a little too distorted on the speakerphone.
4G LTE speeds – LG Nitro HD specs
The 4G LTE network is still being rolled out across the nation. If you are one of those lucky people who has access to a full strength 4G LTE network, you will be able to get download speeds of up to 32Mbps with the LG Nitro HD. If you don’t have 4G LTE, you can still use the less powerful HSPA+ network as the phone is compatible with those networks. If your area does not even have HSPA+ support, there is always good old 3G and 2G that will run on this phone as well.
Processor and performance – LG Nitro HD specs
LG Nitro HD specs include a 1.5GHz dual core processor (Scorpion). This is supported by 1GB of RAM and also by a Adreno 220 GPU processor. The processor on this phone will give you absolutely nothing to complain about, except for the camera shutter lag.
Battery life – LG Nitro HD specs
The LG Nitro HD specs include a pretty heavy duty, 1,830 mAh battery. We weren’t able to test continuous talk time on  a 4G LTE network. But, on a 3G network, the phone was able to provide 7 hours of continuous talk time and about 11 days of life in standby mode. Turning down the brightness of the screen can obviously help prolong battery life. The phone has an inbuilt brightness regulator that also tries to optimize the screen’s brightness, to extend battery life. Our guess is that this phone will provide about 5 hours of continuous talk time on a 4G LTE network.
Conclusion – LG Nitro HD specs
If you can get the LG Nitro HD for the price shown in the picture, GRAB IT!. It is a great deal.
This is a great 4G LTE phone that also has a few flaws. The strengths are the brilliant display, the dual core processor, the 8MP camera, 1080P HD video recording, Gingerbread OS (Soon upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich). The flaws are frustratingly long shutter lag and mediocre quality of photos in low light conditions.
