LG Marquee Specs – Android Phone With Great Display & Mid Range Specs

The LG Marquee is a phone that is best categorized as a mid range Android smartphone that also falls in the mid range when it comes to price points. Though the phone is reasonably priced, it has an awesome looking display. In the sections below, we will take a closer look at the LG Marquee specs.

The Good about the LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs have a lot to offer. To start off, the phone has a very unique Nova screen that we will talk about in more detail, later in the article. Other strengths in terms of specs are the Android Gingerbread OS, the 5MP camera, the front facing camera for video calls and a really high level of call quality performance.
The Bad about the LG Marquee specs
There is actually not too much to complain about the LG Marquee specs, as long as you look at the phone as a affordable smartphone and not one that competes against the big ticket smartphones like the Galaxies and the iPhones.
Summary of the LG Marquee specs
This phone is a definite looker. It looks pretty stylish and most people who look at it the first time will assume that you have bought a rather expensive phone. The specs under the hood are not bad either. This phone is specifically available for the Sprint consumer in the U.S. If you are on the Sprint network and want an affordable Android phone, you might just have found the best offering they have, in the LG Marquee.
Design – LG Marquee specs
When you first see and hold this phone, you are going to be struck by the slim and sleek profile. The phone has a thickness of just .36 inches. Only the Droid Razr and a few other models are thinner than this phone. The phone has a height of 4.8 inches and a width of 2.52 inches. Unlike most other smartphones, the LG Marquee weighs in at less than 4 ounces. This makes it the lightest smartphone that is probably available in the market today.
The phone is made out of lightweight plastic. However, you don’t have to worry about it feeling fragile. It actually feels pretty sturdy. We have to say that LG seem to have got everything right with the design of this phone.
The LG Marquee has a great display that could possibly be the brightest display in the cell phone industry
Now, we will take a closer look at the special Nova screen. The phone has a 4 inch Nova screen that puts out an amazing 700 units of luminance. Even 500 units of luminance is considered to be pretty bright. So, you will definitely notice the special brightness level of this screen. It could even be the brightest cell phone display in the world. However, we can’t say if it is official as new phones come out every day and it takes time for word like this to get around. But anyways, coming back to the Nova display, the actual resolution of the screen is 800X480. The display uses a WVGA display mode. Another special feature about the Nova display is that it is a display that uses very little power, at least in comparison to the Super AMOLED and HD display models. While it might sound contradictory that the brightest screen is also very power efficient, it is true in the case of the LG Marquee.
The back of the LG Marquee has a very fashionable look. The picture also shows a 5MP Camera with LED flash
User interface – LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs include Android’s Gingerbread OS (2.3.4) However, the phone has also received Sprint’s custom UI in the form of Sprint ID. We are not a big fan of this custom UI and honestly wish that LG and Sprint had simply left the Gingerbread OS untouched. The Android operating system’s functionality is not affected although the appearance definitely is. But, having said that, some might find the Sprint ID UI to be useful as it allows the user to quickly select between 5 different screens. Sprint ID will also load up certain sets of widgets and apps according to the type of Sprint ID you choose. Like we said before, we thought that Sprint ID actually does more harm than good.
But, it definitely is not a deal breaker and you will probably get over it in just a few uses, even if you don’t like it.
Storage space – LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs include a 2GB pre-installed SD card. This can be removed to accommodate a 32GB SD card.
Camera – LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs include a 5MP rear or primary camera and a 2MP front facing camera. The 5MP camera did very well in our tests. Both indoor and outdoor pictures put out great color reproduction and showed evenness in lighting and composition. There are more things to like about the 5MP camera. For example, there are about 7 different modes that can be used for various lighting conditions. Changes can also be made to settings such as ISO levels, white balance etc. The camera has the ability to provide a 3x zoom factor, which we thought was pretty impressive for a cell phone camera.
The LG Marquee's 5MP camera takes excellent pictures, both indoors and outdoors
The camera has the ability to capture 720P HD video and video playback is pretty smooth and silky. In general, we loved the whole experience with the LG Marquee’s 5MP camera.
Call quality – LG Marquee specs
Call quality is excellent on this phone. If you are very particular about call quality in a phone, you can buy this phone without any second thoughts as it just won’t disappoint you in any way in the calling department. Voices can be heard very clearly, without any background noises or white noise. The only slight negative when it comes to call quality is that the quality of speakerphone calls is average, at least when compared to the call quality provided by the handset.
The speakerphone tends to pick up a bit of echo and calls can get a little uncomfortable in noisy environments, if you are using the speakerphone. But, for quick short conversations, the speakerphone easily passes the quality test.
Processor and performance – LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs include a single core, 1GHz TI processor. Though it is a single core processor, it keeps the general running of the phone very smooth. Occasionally, you might run into just a small delay here and there as an application loads up with a small delay although it is never too long to stall what you are doing. But, it has to be said that the camera is a little slow to launch and there is a bit of camera lag as well. It might take you 3-4 seconds to shoot a picture after just having taken one. It would have been nice if they had reduced this loading time although it is not a major complaint.
Data transfer speeds – LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs include support for 3G networks. The phone does not support HSPA+ or 4G LTE networks. You will be able to get average 3G speeds on this phone.
Battery life – LG Marquee specs
Battery life is not very impressive on this phone and you will only be able to get 5.5 hours of continuous talk time on this handset. But, 5.5 hours is not too bad and you might be able to get through an entire day of moderate usage, as long as you start out with a full charge in the morning.
Conclusion – LG Marquee specs
LG Marquee specs are excellent in the display and camera department. The phone also runs the second most recently launched Android OS in the form of Gingerbread. The drawbacks are that the phone has average battery life and a not so snappy processor. However, both battery life and processor performance are of average smartphone quality levels.
The affordably priced LG Marquee has mid range specs, but also has killer looks from the side
If you are on the Sprint network and are looking to drop around $100 on a good Android phone, this phone should ideally be at the forefront of your choices.
